My name is Charlotte Irons and I’m a yoga and pilates teacher, who also loves to cook amazing food. I’m passionate about health and wellbeing, sharing what I’ve learned to empower people to get creative – through movement, mindfulness and in the kitchen!
How did I get here? Every interesting story has a tipping point, and so does mine. I haven’t always lived a green smoothie drinking, active, healthy life. After completing a bachelor of business and communications, I started the steady climb up the corporate ladder of marketing and advertising – and the hard drinking, stress eating, anxiety and insomnia that came with it.
All too soon I crashed and burned, so when a trip to Bali called, I answered. After years of masking my problems with partying, I took the time to check in with myself. I found a yoga studio and, like anyone with slightly obsessive tendencies, starting practicing four times a day. Five months later I started teaching and have never looked back. It may sound like a cliché, but yoga changed my life.
Ever since I was little, I have loved to cook. I remember getting up on Saturday mornings to make yummy food from scratch, getting creative with ingredients, using full of lentils, spices, herbs. All the things that are super trendy now were considered pretty weird at that time in New Zealand. My friends loved to come over for my Mums vegetarian burgers, lasagne, and Mexican food. She would have the most adamant meat-eaters coming back for seconds.
I’m fascinated by the way the food we eat affects our minds and bodies. When you eat crap food you feel horrible, so I cook simple, healthy recipes that are delicious and accessible, with ingredients that are easy to find.
To me, real health means balance. Eating well, sleeping well, moving your body – all the things you know are good for you – but also having a whole lotta fun. I’d love to share that with you here.
